Chainsmoker Cat Hypes Fans With New Trailer Release

The upcoming anime adaptation of Chainsmoker Cat has officially released a brand-new trailer, giving fans a closer look at the chaotic world of its cigarette-addicted feline protagonist while also revealing the artists behind the series’ official theme songs.

The newly released promotional video showcases the anime’s unique blend of dark comedy, slice-of-life storytelling, and absurd humor. The trailer highlights the daily struggles of Yani, a chain-smoking cat girl whose messy lifestyle, financial problems, and constant attempts to quit smoking form the heart of the series. Fans immediately reacted to the trailer’s gritty atmosphere and surprisingly high-quality animation.

Alongside the new footage, the production team also confirmed the performers for the anime’s opening and ending theme songs. The opening theme, titled “Smoke Signal Days,” will be performed by Japanese alternative rock group LUNA EXIT, while indie singer-songwriter Mika Aoi will perform the emotional ending theme “Ashes in the Rain.” The songs are expected to reflect both the chaotic comedy and emotional struggles explored throughout the series.

Based on the manga by Nyan Nyan Factory, Chainsmoker Cat quickly gained attention online for its unusual premise and self-deprecating humor. The story follows Yani, a cat girl whose addiction, poor life choices, and constant bad luck often leave her in bizarre and embarrassing situations. Despite its comedic tone, the series also explores loneliness, friendship, and personal struggles in an unexpectedly relatable way.

The anime is being directed by Taku Kimura, with scripts written by Takashi Aoshima and character designs handled by Riki Matsuura. Music for the series is composed by Keiichi Suzuki, while animation production is being handled by Bibury Animation Studio.

Voice actress Yuko Natsuyoshi leads the cast as Yani, bringing life to the troubled but oddly lovable protagonist. Additional cast members include Misato Matsuoka, Yurie Funato, Ayaka Shimizu, and Shiori Izawa, who portray the eccentric characters surrounding Yani’s chaotic life.

Following the trailer release, anime communities across social media quickly began discussing the series. Many viewers expressed surprise at the anime’s polished visuals and faithful recreation of the manga’s grimy, cigarette-filled atmosphere. Others described the show as one of the most bizarre and strangely entertaining titles coming in the Summer 2026 anime season.

Chainsmoker Cat is scheduled to premiere in Japan in July 2026. With its unconventional premise, dark humor, and growing online popularity, the series is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about comedy anime releases of the year.
