Former Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez has been invited to the Romualdez Senate flood probe as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee resumes its inquiry into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026, as part of the committee’s continuing investigation into the flood control issue. Romualdez is among the personalities invited as resource persons.

Romualdez Senate Flood Probe Includes 18 Alleged Ex-Marines

The Senate panel also restored invitations to 18 individuals who claim to be former Philippine Marines. The group had earlier claimed that they delivered alleged kickbacks to government officials in connection with flood control projects.

According to GMA News, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Sen. Pia Cayetano said formal invitations had been issued for the June 4 hearing.

Romualdez has repeatedly denied allegations linking him to the flood control mess and supposed budget insertions.

Why the Hearing Matters

The Blue Ribbon Committee investigates alleged wrongdoing involving public officials in aid of legislation and public accountability. In this case, senators are expected to look into claims surrounding flood control funds, project allocations, and alleged kickback deliveries.

The invitation does not mean that the invited personalities have been found guilty of wrongdoing. It means the committee wants them to appear and provide information related to the ongoing inquiry.

More Resource Persons Invited

Aside from Romualdez and the 18 alleged ex-Marines, reports said other individuals connected to the flood control controversy were also invited to the hearing.

The Senate inquiry is expected to continue drawing attention because of the number of personalities involved and the serious nature of the allegations.
